At Grace Montessori Academy, 1 Peter 4:10 is the Bible verse that serves as our foundation.
The word grace here in “steward of God’s grace” is the Greek word charis. This Greek word charis is the root of three key words.
Charis – Grace (to receive a free gift that we neither deserve nor are able to repay)
Charisma – the free gifts and skills God has given each individual (different than the meaning of the Japanese word “karisuma”)
Chará – Joy
Grace・skills/gifting・joy, are linked by this one root word charis (grace).
The passions, strengths and talents we have are free gifts given by God. We should be faithful in growing in those areas and using our gifts for others. A life lived like that is a life full of joy!
Our mission is to run a school based on the Bible and spirit of Christianity, with love, hope and faith, that encourages children to discover and fulfill their God-given potential.
The teachers also have a heart, love, faith, hope, patience, and a positive and stable attitude based on the Bible. We also strive to be an example of a continuous learner as we teach the children.
Maria Montessori herself was a devout Catholic by faith. While her method is not linked to any religion specifically, it carries the Christian heart of servanthood, and love and respect for others and oneself.
